Shearer congratulating Wilson for wearing the number 9. England legend Alan Shearer He posted a congratulatory tweet after Newcastle striker Callum Wilson wears the number 9 next season.
The 29-year-old striker moved to St James’ Park this season. He’s done a great job with 12 goals and five assists in 26 Premier League games. He is the team’s top scorer and will help the club reach 12th in the table.
It has been revealed that next season Wilson will be wearing the team’s number 9 jersey instead of the number 13, with last season’s owner Sholinton switching to the number 7 instead.
The number 9 is the number worn by many of the club’s legends as goalscorers in the Premier League including Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer.
As soon as Wilson announced via his personal Twitter that the season would be number 9, Shearer retweeted it with a clapping emoji and a picture of a man raising his hand as a cheering gesture of himself back in the day. Newcastle will open their Premier League home ground against West Ham on August 15.
