Riqui Puig has turned down loan offers to several La Liga clubs
Spanish publication Sport has revealed that Barcelona youngster Riqui Puig has turned down loan offers to several La Liga clubs in order to stay at the club.
The 21-year-old, who turned down loan spells at other clubs last season under the guidance of Ronald Koeman, has started just three games in all competitions. Despite having played 24 games in total. He had only 581 minutes in total time and only one full 90 minutes on the field.
It is expected that this season he will have the opportunity to play with other clubs on loan. But, according to Sport. Puch has rejected offers from both Granada and Celta Vigo, league rivals Ajax in the Netherlands and clubs from both Germany and England looking to loan him out.
The report claims Barca appreciate Puch’s stance and determination. Although the new season will be another tough year. But he is considered a player that Joan Laporta liked and used to praise.
“For me he is a player with extraordinary potential and important to the club because of the way he plays and the understanding of the club philosophy, let him be part of the team for his own position,” Laporta said.
